"Who are the CG3?" - A Band History

2002 was a huge year. It saw the debut of the CG3 before they were the CG3.

May, 16th - Attack of the Clones demolished the competition with an 80 million dollar opening weekend. Before, Yoda had been just a lifeless puppet. No wonder The Phantom Menace only made a 64 million dollar opening weekend.

Clones was Yoda's CG debut. He took his make-over and used it to its fullest, especially during his famous battle with Count Dooku.

Months later, on November, 15th, Dobby appeared in The Chamber of Secrets. Dobby was a complete newcomer, he had never even been around a movie set before. Yoda had paved the way for CG characters (Yes, I am forgetting Jar Jar Binks, and so should you.) and Dobby continued the trend, helping his franchise to an 88 million dollar opening weekend.

And then, just over a month later, a star was born... well, metaphorically speaking. On December, 18th, The Two Towers opened. The opening weekend was only 62 million dollars, but Gollum helped the film have extremely long legs. In the end, it grossed more than either Clones or Chamber.

Gollum was around in The Fellowship of the Rings, but it was mostly behind the scenes and voice work. Many people didn't even know his name. Of course, once Towers came out, that all changed. He sky rocketed to fame and fell in love with it.

Yoda shied away from the public, he got his fill of fans in the 70's when he was just foam and rubber. Dobby... well, Dobby didn't really know what was going on. He apperated everywhere anyway, so he hardly ever ran into the throngs of fans. But Gollum, Gollum capitalized on his fame.

Right after Towers was released, he made appearances everywhere. Though, during the summer he had to cancel many of his convention appearances due to reshoots on Return of the King scheduled by Peter Jackson. Though, the reshoots weren't a total loss. Inspired by one of the scenes he was in, he decided to cut a record.

GeekGasm Records cut Gollum a deal for a single that was released just a few short weeks before King hit the cineplex.

In Da Caveses was an immediate hit.

But fame didn't last long for Gollum. There were no more movies in his franchise and his first single was quickly losing popularity. He decided to cut another single and recorded We Hate Those Hobbitses (Gollum) .

It was popular, but never reach the heights that In Da Caveses did.

Gollum was crushed. He had become addicted to fame and was having withdrawal. He knew there were only so many different songs he could make about his "Preshus" so he decided to think it out over a drink.

One fateful night in early 2005, he went to 626, a local "Toons Only" bar that makes a mean martini (literally) and ran into Yoda. They started talking about how they felt different than the rest of the Toons. Sure, there were other CG characters, but they were all like Woody and Buzz, they had worked together. For Yoda and Dobby, they worked mostly with humans. That and the fact that their movies made more than any of the other Toons' movies combined, led to them being whispered about instead of to.

A song began playing in the background that both Yoda and Gollum hummed. They looked at each other, and instantly knew what they had to do. All they needed was a Soprano.

Just then Dobby apperated at the bar.

Thus,
the CG3 was born. They started off doing covers of popular songs but were eventually contracted by GeekGasm Records to record a single.

The response to Because We Got High was so good, GeekGasm even signed them on to do a full album.

The CG3 are currently in studio finishing up their first studio album.
